Phylos
Terms of Service
Last updated September 9, 2026. These terms are between you and Peyton Jensen, the operator of Phylos in Utah, United States, and apply to the Phylos app and website. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Using Phylos
Phylos provides philosophy, art, and architecture content, social features, personal writing tools, and AI conversations. The app is being prepared for iOS and Android; this website does not offer a download until launch.
You must be at least 13 and meet any higher minimum age required in your country. If you are not old enough to enter a binding agreement, a parent or guardian must agree to your use. Provide accurate account information and keep your login secure. Contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
Free features and paid access
Free accounts include core discovery and social features, subject to the limits shown in the app. Calls and debates require paid access or credits. There is no recurring free call or debate allowance.
Paid subscriptions and one-time purchases are offered through Apple or Google. The purchase screen shows the applicable price, currency, renewal period, included features, and usage allowances. Website prices described as planned or provisional are not a purchase offer. Store purchase details control the transaction.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled through the store before its renewal deadline. Manage cancellations and refund requests through the store where you purchased, subject to its policies and your statutory rights. Deleting the app or your Phylos account does not cancel a subscription.
Usage allowances, session limits, and any credit conditions are shown in the app. Do not attempt to bypass access controls or share an account to evade these limits.
Your posts, collections, and writing
You retain ownership of content you create. You grant Phylos a nonexclusive permission to store, process, and display that content as needed to operate the features you use, including sharing it with the audience you select. This permission does not transfer ownership to Phylos.
Only post material you have the right to share. Respect other people’s privacy and intellectual property. You can remove your content or change available sharing settings; copies others have made and records retained for legitimate legal or security reasons may remain.
AI conversations and educational content
AI philosophers and debates are simulations inspired by historical ideas, not the actual people or authentic historical recordings. Generated answers can be inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent. Verify important claims against reliable sources.
The AI philosophers will not engage with suicide, self-harm, or harming another person as a subject for argument. If a conversation turns that way, the character stops and points to crisis support: in the United States, call or text 988; elsewhere, findahelpline.com lists local services. If you directly ask whether you are speaking with an AI, you will be told plainly that you are. Phylos is not a crisis service, a therapist, or a substitute for one.
Phylos is for learning, exploration, and reflection. Its content is not a substitute for medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Voice and AI features rely on external providers as explained in our Privacy Policy.
Respectful and lawful use
Do not use Phylos to harass, threaten, exploit, or impersonate others; share illegal or infringing content; expose someone’s private information without permission; or distribute spam. Do not compromise security, interfere with service availability, or misrepresent AI output as an authentic historical statement.
You may report abusive or infringing content through available in-app reporting tools or by emailing support. We may remove content or restrict accounts for violations, unlawful activity, or risks to other users. Contact support if you believe a restriction was made in error.
App and third-party content
Phylos and its licensors retain rights in the software, branding, and original editorial material. You may use the service for its intended purposes. Restrictions do not override rights granted by applicable law, open-source licenses, or licenses attached to individual works.
Historical works and images have their own copyright and attribution terms. Consult the source credits for a particular item before reusing it. Public-domain works remain public domain. For apps distributed through Apple, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement applies unless a separate applicable license is provided.
Availability and account closure
Features may change, and maintenance or provider outages can interrupt access. We may suspend access where needed to enforce these terms, protect the service, or comply with law. Any rights you have regarding paid services remain subject to applicable law and store terms.
You can stop using Phylos at any time and delete your account from Profile, Settings, Delete account. If you cannot sign in, contact support@phylos.app. Review the Privacy Policy for how deletion affects your information.
Responsibility and consumer rights
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided as available without a guarantee of uninterrupted operation or complete accuracy. We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses to the extent those exclusions are lawful.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limits mandatory consumer protections, refund rights, or remedies. These terms do not require you to waive such rights.
Updates and contact
We may update these terms as the service changes. The date above identifies the current version. We will provide additional notice or seek agreement where required by law.
