Terms of Service

You must be at least 13, or older if your country requires it. If you are too young to agree to a contract, a parent or guardian must agree for you. Keep your login safe and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.

Free accounts include discovery and social features, within the limits shown in the app. Calls and debates use credits, which come with a paid plan.

Subscriptions and credit packs are sold through Apple or Google, and the store’s purchase screen shows the price, renewal period, and what is included. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in the store before the renewal date. Refunds are handled by the store under its policies and your legal rights. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription. Do not share accounts or try to get around limits.

You own what you create. You let Blackbeak Studios LLC store and show it as needed to run the features you use, to the audience you choose. Only post things you have the right to share. You can delete your content or change who sees it, but copies others have already made may remain.

The philosophers you talk with in calls, chats, and debates are AI simulations based on their writings, not the actual people. Replies can be wrong, so check anything important. Phylos is for learning and reflection, not medical, legal, financial, or mental-health advice. AI conversations may not be suitable for some minors.

If a conversation turns to suicide, self-harm, or hurting someone, the philosopher stops and points you to crisis support: in the US, call or text 988; elsewhere, findahelpline.com lists local services. If you ask whether you are talking with an AI, you will be told that you are. Phylos is not a crisis service.

To work, AI features send what you say or write, and the context needed to reply, to outside AI providers, which may process it in other countries. By using these features you agree to this. Our Privacy Policy has the details.

Do not harass, threaten, impersonate, or exploit anyone; share illegal or infringing material; post someone’s private information; send spam; or try to break or overload the service. Do not present AI replies as real quotes from historical figures.

Hate speech, racist abuse, bullying, targeted insults, and encouraging violence are not allowed, including attacks on people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Disagree with ideas, not people. This applies everywhere you can write, including usernames, bios, posts, comments, collections, and published journal entries.

We may remove content or restrict accounts that break these rules or put others at risk. If you think we got it wrong, contact support.

Phylos prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), sexualizing minors, grooming, sextortion, and trafficking, in any content, profile, message, link, or use of AI features.

Report a concern in the app, through our report form, or at support@phylos.app. Tell us where it appears; do not download or attach illegal material. We prioritize these reports, remove the material, act on the accounts involved, and report to the authorities as the law requires.

To report something in the app, use the menu on a post or profile, long-press a comment, or use the report button on a published journal entry. You can block a user from their profile or a post menu. For anything else, use the report form or email support@phylos.app. We review reports. False or abusive reports may lead to limits on reporting.

If you own a copyright and think something here infringes it, email support@phylos.app with: the work, the material and where it is, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized, a statement that your notice is accurate and you are authorized to act for the owner, and your signature. We remove material when properly notified, pass on counter-notices sent with the same details, and close the accounts of repeat infringers.

Blackbeak Studios LLC and its licensors own the app, the branding, and our original writing. Historical works and images carry their own copyright and credits, shown with each item; public-domain works stay public domain. For apps downloaded from Apple, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement also applies.

Features can change, and outages can interrupt access. We may suspend accounts to enforce these terms, protect the service, or follow the law. You can delete your account at any time under Profile, Settings, Delete account, or by emailing support@phylos.app.

As far as the law allows, Phylos is provided as is, without a promise that it is always available or error-free, and we are not liable for indirect losses. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law.

We may update these terms; the date above shows the current version, and we will give notice where the law requires. Questions go to support@phylos.app.
