Privacy Policy

We collect only what Phylos needs to work. We do not sell your information or share it for advertising. There are no ads or ad trackers in the app or on this website.

Phylos is run by Blackbeak Studios LLC, which is responsible for your information (the controller). Questions and requests go to support@phylos.app.

• Your account. Your email address, sign-in details, and anything you add to your profile, such as a username, picture, bio, or favorites. If you sign in with Apple or Google, they share only what you approve.
• What you create. Posts, comments, collections, journal entries, your My Philosophy answers, and the text of your calls, chats, and debates.
• How you use the app. What you view, save, or skip, so we can personalize your feed, and usage counts so we can apply plan limits and stop abuse.
• Crash reports. Device type, app version, errors, and performance data, so we can fix problems.
• Purchases. Apple or Google takes payment. We only learn whether you have a subscription or credits, never your card details.
• Messages to us. What you write in a support request or report, and the email address you give us.
• Pre-registration. If you sign up on the website to hear about launch, your email address, the phone platform you chose, the date, and, if you came from a tagged link, where it was posted. We email you to confirm and then only to tell you when Phylos launches on your platform.

We do not access your contacts or photos, and we do not use advertising identifiers. If you use the map’s nearby feature, your location is used on your phone to find places and is not sent to us. Reminders are set on your phone. You can turn off microphone, location, and notification access in your device settings at any time.

During a voice call, your audio is streamed to Cartesia to turn it into text, and Cartesia turns the reply into speech. We keep the text transcript, not a recording. For calls, chats, and debates, the conversation text is sent to DeepSeek to write replies.

If you subscribe and ask for a monthly analysis, DeepSeek receives a summary of your My Philosophy answers, the topics your debates touched, and the titles of things you saved. It does not include your name, email, username, journal entries, or anything you said in conversations. The analysis is visible only to you.

These providers may keep and use what they receive under their own privacy policies. DeepSeek processes data in China.

Besides the AI providers above, we use providers for hosting, the database and sign-in, crash reporting, purchase checks, email, maps, and content moderation. Each receives only what it needs to provide its service, under terms that require it to protect that information. The moderation provider checks text you post publicly and messages in conversations, so abuse is blocked and someone in crisis is pointed to help. They process data mainly in the United States, and some in other countries.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people or the service, or as part of a sale or merger of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply.

Your profile, posts, and comments can be seen by other users. Collections follow your sharing settings. Journal entries are private unless you choose to post one. Anyone who can see something you shared may copy it.

The app stores your settings, cached content, and some conversation history on your phone. This website stores only your light or dark theme choice in your browser and has no analytics. Because we do not track you across other sites, browser Do Not Track signals change nothing. Our hosts see ordinary request details, such as IP addresses, to deliver and secure the app and site, and our forms use an automated security check.

We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete things in the app, or use our Delete account or data page (also in the app under Profile, Settings, Delete account) to reset My Philosophy, erase your data, or delete your account. Backups and records we must keep for legal or security reasons may last a little longer. Deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription. We delete the pre-registration list after launch emails go out; to leave it sooner, reply to any of our emails.

Depending on where you live, you can ask to see, correct, delete, or get a copy of your information, object to or limit how we use it, withdraw consent, or complain to a data-protection authority. Email support@phylos.app. We may check that the account is yours first.

Where EU or UK law applies, we rely on: our contract with you, to run your account and the features you use; your consent, for My Philosophy profiling, location, and notifications; our legitimate interests, for security, crash reports, and feed personalization; and legal obligations. An email address is needed to create an account. Everything else is optional, though some features need it.

Phylos is not for children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.
